Shopping
Emory
University Bookstore
For Emory paraphernalia, visit the bookstore on campus in the Dobbs University
Center.
Buckhead, Lenox
Square, and Phipps
Plaza
For world-class shopping twenty minutes from campus, visit Buckhead. Lenox
and Phipps are two huge malls located across the street from each other
at the intersection of Lenox and Peachtree roads. Buckhead is also home
to many of Atlantas upscale hotels and restaurants. For some, weekend
nights in Buckhead will feel like an explosion of fun, crowds, music,
and dancing. For others, it will feel a little chaotic, with traffic,
crowds, and loud music.
Decatur
Decatur is a town located in the middle of a big city. The town square
is the heart of a great shopping and entertainment district, where many
of the stores are locally owned. Theres often live music at one
of the many restaurants and clubs or in the pavilion on the town square
on certain summer nights. Some of the best acoustic music in the country
can be heard at Eddies Attic, they usually have a family friendly,
all-ages show at 7:00 p.m.
Little Five Points
A gathering spot for the young, the hip, the cool, and the pierced, L5P
is funky and fun with interesting restaurants and shops. Visit Junkmans
Daughter, the alterna-teen super store; shop for vintage clothes at Stefans;
and have lunch at our favorite burger joint, The
Vortex. At night catch a show at Variety
Playhouse. Located at the intersection of Moreland and Euclid avenues,
the neighborhood is a ten minute drive from Emory.
Virginia Highlands
Shops and restaurants stretch the length of Highland Avenue, but one may
find a sizable clustering at the intersection with Virginia Avenue. Browse
20th Century Antiques and Metropolitan
Deluxe, and send Dad over to Highland
Hardware. For a relaxing lunch go to Murphys,
where they also have great desserts. The neighborhood is ten minutes from
campus.
