The Program The BBA program provides an integrated undergraduate education, consisting of a liberal arts foundation, a core business curriculum, and a highly flexible set of electives. All students enter Emory College as freshmen and may apply to the business school once they have achieved junior standing. The Goizueta Scholars award will support four years of undergraduate study, including study-abroad options, and will range from two-thirds of tuition to full tuition and fees. Goizueta Scholars will have guaranteed admission to the business school and priority access to business classes. They will have the opportunity to enroll in special freshman and sophomore business scholar seminars, to participate in an extensive array of leadership and professional activities, and to interact with some of the most admired business executives in the world. Scholars will additionally be personally advised by the dean of the BBA program and given access to a wide variety of ongoing Goizueta resources, including internships, mentoring, and other career services. The Scholars In addition to seeking students with superior academic credentials, successful nominees will have a demonstrated interest in business, as evidenced by engagement in entrepreneurial activities, participation in internships, membership in business clubs, and/or involvement in business-related conferences, competitions, and similar offerings. Leadership and community service are also important components in the selection process, and candidates who bring diverse perspectives and backgrounds are of special interest. Nomination To be considered for Goizueta Scholars, students must be nominated by an appropriate high school official, normally the college counselor. Emory mails the Goizueta Scholars nomination form to high school college counseling offices in the early fall. Forms should arrive by September 15. Secondary schools may only nominate one student each year. Students can be nominated for both Goizueta Scholars and Emory Scholars. Application and Nomination Deadline: November 1 The nomination form, scholar essay, scholar recommendation and all admission application materials must be submitted by November 1 of the students senior year. Though the submission deadline is in November, the application is not a binding, early decision application. A student may apply to Emory as a Goizueta Scholar nominee and as an early decision candidate, but if attendance at Emory is contingent upon receiving a merit scholarship, do not apply as an early decision candidate. Goizueta Scholar selections do not occur until early April, and early decision applicants have to pay their binding deposits in January or February. Selection Timeline The Goizueta Scholars committee will choose fifty applicants who will learn of their admission decision and selection as semifinalists in January 2009. Approximately ten finalists will interview at Emory in early March. Finalist Interview Weekend The 2009, interview dates have not been selected yet. Finalists will be brought to Emory (at no expense to them) for activities designed to help them become better acquainted with programs and opportunities at Emory and to aid the Goizueta Scholars Selection Committee in making its final choices for the various awards. Attendance is mandatory for all scholar finalists. Awards Selection of merit scholars is extremely competitive. The awards range from two-thirds tuition to full tuition. Scholarships are renewable for four years of undergraduate study, provided they maintain high standards of personal and academic excellence. All scholarships are awarded solely on the basis of outstanding merit without regard to financial need, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, veteran/Reserve/National Guard status, or national origin. Recipients of merit-based scholarships may also receive other financial aid based on additional demonstrated need. The total aid from all sources may not exceed the cost of attendance. To request a brochure on financial aid and scholarships, please fill out our online request form or you may download the brochure from this site. NCAA rules prohibit any Division III institution from awarding athletically-related
financial aid and from considering athletic ability or participation in
regard to any financial aid awarded to any student. Accordingly, while
interscholastic athletic participation can be considered in the Emory
admissions process, it may not be considered in the awarding of the merit-based
scholarships through the Emory Scholars Program or the Goizueta Scholars Program. |
