EARLY DECISION

Common Application Early Decision Agreement

Students who have selected Emory as their first choice and who wish to receive an admission decision early in the year may do so by applying for admission under one of two early decision plans.

Early Decision Plan I
Admission and Financial Aid Application Deadline: November 1
Notification Date: December 15
Deposit Deadline: January 15

ED I students interested in need-based financial aid, must submit the CSS PROFILE and the previous year’s tax documents by November 1.

Early Decision Plan II
Admission and Financial Aid Application Deadline: January 1
Notification Date: February 15
Deposit Deadline: March 1

ED II students interested in need-based financial aid, must submit the CSS PROFILE and the previous year’s tax documents by January 1.

Both early decision plans are binding, meaning that if Emory admits the applicant and if Emory makes the education affordable, the student must pay his or her admission deposit and enroll that next fall. Students may apply early decision to only one school in any given application round. As an early decision applicant, a student may submit regular decision applications to other institutions; if the student later pays his or her early decision deposit to Emory, the student would immediately withdraw any regular decision applications filed.

If cost is a factor, students should complete the CSS PROFILE and submit it to the processing center by the appropriate deadline. Students must also submit complete copies of their and their parents’ previous year’s U.S. tax documents. No deposit extensions will be given to students who are waiting for financial aid information if those students applied for aid after the deadline.

The possible decisions resulting from an early decision application are: acceptance, deferral to Regular Decision (ED I), wait list (ED II), or denial.

If attendance at Emory is contingent upon receiving a merit scholarship, do not choose either early decision option. Emory Scholar selections do not occur until April.
