FIRST-YEAR APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

For admission consideration, we ask that all first-year applicants submit the following items:
• Completed Common Application
• Complete Emory’s Common Application Supplement
• An essay and two short-answer responses (all part of the Common Application package)
• A $50.00 application fee or a fee waiver from the College Board
• Transcript(s) of all high school work including courses in progress and courses and grades from the previous three academic years
• Transcript(s) of any college courses taken, if applicable
• Results from either the SAT I* or ACT; SAT II results are encouraged but are not required unless home-schooled
• Secondary school report / counselor’s recommendation
• Up to two additional optional recommendations

*For Fall 2010 applicants, Emory will take the Highest Section Scores Across Test Dates (version 2): Emory considers students’ highest section scores across all SAT dates submitted. Students will be instructed to send scores from every SAT test date in which they received a top score in each section: mathematics, critical reading and writing. Final admissions decisions are based only on students’ highest section scores, and Emory updates students’ records each time you receive new scores. Students will be encouraged to submit scores each time they take the SAT because it will always benefit them to do so.

Home-Schooled Applicants
• If home-schooled, at least one letter of recommendation from someone other than a family member
• If home-schooled, results from three SAT II subject tests, one in mathematics and two of the student's choice

International Applicants
• If English is your second language, TOEFL results may be submitted in addition to or in place of the SAT I or ACT.
Verification of the requisite funding for Emory’s average yearly expenses.
