UNDERGRADUATE APPLICATION PROCESS
Emory welcomes international students applications to the University,
provided they meet our eligibility requirements.
Such students must submit the following:
Emory College application and $50.00 processing fee
Complete secondary school transcripts with certified English translations
College transcripts, if applicable
Official scores from the TOEFL
(Test of English as a Foreign Language), the SAT
(Scholastic Aptitude Test), and/or the ACT
(American College Test)
An academic recommendation from your secondary school counselor
or teacher
A certified financial information
form stating the amount of money (in U.S. currency) available for
your education in the United States, as required by the U.S. Immigration
and Naturalization Service for issuance of the I-20 form
An international student applicant is expected to have above average grades
in secondary school and college, if applicable. The typical TOEFL score
for admitted international students on the internet-based exam (iBT) is 100 or higher, and the average for the computer-based exam is a 250.
Please note that there are no need-based financial aid resources for international
students. Therefore you and your parents should be prepared to bear the
expenses involved in your education at Emory College (including your round
trip transportation). An international student should expect to spend
at least $50,000 per academic year at Emory College, not including transportation.
If admitted, the applicant will be sent an official letter certifying
the fact that he or she has been approved for admission and informing
him or her concerning dates for registration and the beginning of the
term. No prospective student should make plans to leave his or her country
until he or she has received a letter of acceptance and a Form I-20 or
IAP-66 from the University division to which he or she seeks admission.
Each international student is required by U.S. Immigration Laws to register
as a full-time student each semester, except the summer term.
Medical insurance is mandatory for international students at Emory. All
international students will be automatically enrolled in the Accident
and Sickness Insurance for Emory University Students plan unless
the student shows that he or she has equal coverage prior to his or her
registration. Once accepted to Emory, each student will receive further
information about the mandatory insurance regulation from the International
Student and Scholar Programs Office.
