Barkley Debate Scholars
Barkley Debate Scholars are chosen from accepted candidates for Emory’s first-year class. Named after former United States vice president and Emory alumnus, Alben W. Barkley, the Barkley Forum, in conjunction with the Emory admissions office, awards a merit scholarship to an incoming first year student every year. Applicants must demonstrate academic achievement and debate excellence to be eligible for consideration. Applicants must submit their application directly to the Barkley Forum for review by the director of the Barkley Forum and the director of admissions at Emory University. The form includes current cumulative G.P.A., test scores, and a record of debate accomplishments. Dean’s Music Scholarships
Each year Emory College offers several half-tuition music merit scholarships to incoming first-year students who show exceptional promise in their applied area. Dean's Music Scholarships are awarded by Emory’s music department. Students who wish to be considered for these scholarships must meet all admission requirements of Emory College. Students who wish to be considered for the Music Merit Scholarship should plan on majoring in music. This scholarship is not applicable to the music minor. All audition students are considered for the scholarship. No additional paperwork is required. Scholarship recipients will be notified in April. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarships
Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarships are awarded in the amount of full tuition, fees, room, and board. Only applicants from the City of Atlanta Public Schools are eligible for consideration for these awards. Nominations for the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholars are made by high school principals or college/guidance counselors. Nomination forms are mailed to high schools in the early fall. As many as ten candidates may be nominated by each school. The nomination form and the student’s complete application for admission must be submitted by November 15.
