Helping a Student Check Application Status

If you have been a counselor for many years, you already know that around application deadlines, we are inundated with application materials. Please advise the student to be patient. It may take us from two to four weeks to process and record his or her application materials. During the processing delay, the student may get a letter from Emory stating that information is missing; that information may have been sent but simply not recorded. Again, please advise patience.

It will assist us in processing a student’s application if all required application materials are mailed in one envelope. This is not always possible. Information submitted online is generally recorded first. Materials mailed will take longer to sort and record.

All students are notified in writing about their application status, whether their file is complete or incomplete.

Students may also check their status online via OPUS. There are instructions for first time users at the OPUS site. Please remind students that despite the perceived instant nature of online submissions, it may take two to four weeks to process and post their application materials during our busiest times.

If all else fails or if a parent is about to burst at the seams, please feel free to call the Office of Admission with questions or concerns at 800.727.6036 or 404.727.6036.
