The Hall of Champions

Since 1961 Thomas Glenn Pelham identified the schools and coaches that won the BFHS policy debate tournament as the Hall of Champions. For decades the names of the winners dating back to the first tournament in 1956 adorned the hall where the final round is held before a large audience. As the tournament became a national event, Mr. Pelham elected to include the second place team on the written invitation. With respect for this history, the Barkley Forum identifies the original debate champions of the tournament through the current day. While other events have been added to the tournament including multiple individual and debate events, the rich tradition of past winners is honored here in the virtual Hall of Champions. The immediate past winners of all events can be viewed here. The member schools of the Barkley Forum can be viewed can be viewed here. And the Key coaches of the Barkley Forum can be viewed here.
