Owners are the ultimate end user of the construction project. They contract with an architect and a construction firm to design and construct a facility to meet their needs.

The level of Owner involvement on a project depends on the size and industry of the Owner. A college campus or hospital, where expansion and renovation is a constant, the Owner often has a Construction Management or Development Department to supervise projects. Other Owners, such as a hotel or a bank, will have a limited role and leave the monitoring of the project to the architect and contractor.
