When should a project page be used?
Like many applications of the internet, this product is not for everyone. The costs of creating and maintaining a project site can run to $30K or more. Therefore, on a project that only has a budget of $50K the web site is not feasible. However, on large projects, the tool can be useful and cost effective.
Utilization of the project page also requires buy-in from key members of the team (Owner, Architect, and General Contractor). If one of these parties does not feel that it is an effective tool, or that it is a waste of time, and the use of the site is not a contractual obligation, then the success of the site will be limited.
