The purpose of this document is to inform the
user of a relatively new application of technology known as biometric encryption.
After a brief definition of exactly what biometric encryption is, the history
of its evolution will be discussed. The major types of biometric
encryption techniques, along with their pros and cons, will be examined
followed by a sample listing of potential uses for the technology in the
future. We will then examine the U.S. government's view on the use
of biometrics along with some current applications of the technology the
government using today. Lastly, the potential for biometric encryption
use in electronic commerce will be examined.
