We found a number of references useful in preparing this Data Mining document. As a general reference, Chapter 12 of Kalakota and Whinston's text, Frontiers of Electronic Commerce, was helpful in describing data warehouses and decision support systems.
A number of company home pages contain white papers describing their products and services as they relate to Data Mining. The sites we found most useful were IBM's pages concerning Quest, and NeoVista's and Ultragem's sites. The article "Excavate Your Data" was quite useful in providing a non-technical description of data mining.
Most useful was a Dun & Bradstreet document describing the business opportunities to the company, associated with Data Mining. In the spirit of Tim Berners-Lee, we acknowledge shamelessly using portions of this document in preparing our project on Data Mining. Apparently, Dun & Bradstreet has a high level, "think tank" technology cell called the Dun & Bradstreet Information Group (DIG), which has highly technically qualified and forward thinking personnel, who try to identify technology trends. They have identified Data Mining as one of the most important business trends of the future for Dun & Bradstreet.
