Survivors, Weakest Links and Unreality Commerce

Stories from the Recent Unpleasantness

EC Logo

In the time before the "Recent Unpleasantness" there was a perception that "No Rules Need Apply." Reality intervened and a series of events from last spring (beginning with Soros/Druckenmiller/Tiger/...) changed the landscape.

There has been much finger-pointing: Greenspan - too late/political; Venture types - capital spending and valuations; Management - young and naive; Markets - not ready for change; Investors - naive and reckless; Analysts - irresponsible and ethically-challenged; Financial Institutions - pumped up the volume; Governance Institutions - ignorant in rules; Lawyers, etc. The list goes on. Many complaints are fair credit, others might be overstated, or impact misjudged. The result - many good and bad companies failed, and some of each survived.

We have an excellent panel of experienced individuals that lived through these events and can speak critically to the situation and the necessities of survival. What did it take to survive in the face of these changing capital and market realities?

INSERT MIRACLE HERE:

Survivors, Weakest Links and Unreality Commerce

Stories from the Recent Unpleasantness

In this session we will explore the experiences and learnings of several CEOs that have participated in startups and new initiatives in the last few years - survivors and failures. In this group we have an EXTRORDINARY panel of CEOs that have lived through these issues and can help us reflect on the survival techniques in such volatile commerce arenas.

We will invite their thoughts on

• Key principles of survivorship
• Dumb things you saw "others" do
• Things I'd do differently
• How we managed to . . .

Keep in mind that most of these CEOs have been involved in both successful and less-successful opportunities.

We think that you will find the session to be interesting and informative.
