Olivia

Name: Olivia Wise
Year: Junior
Major: Women’s Studies and English
Hometown: Atlanta, GA
Position: Pride Co-President

From passion fruit sorbet to social activism, my interests vary greatly. I find strength in my relationships with friends and family, but I also yearn for time by myself so that I can think and be. As a young, lesbian woman, I fight against ALL oppressions, no matter how I identify because I believe that all forms of imprisonment are damaging and that we as the human race must learn to celebrate our differences.

Aaron

Name: Aaron Rutledge
Year: Junior
Major: Sociology
Hometown: Lewis Center, OH
Position: Co-President

I am one of those people that always have to be involved and busy.  I love Atlanta and explore new places around the city.  On the other hand I also love being involved on Emory's campus.  Emory is a great school and it provides so many opportunities to its students.  Emory Pride is one of those opportunities in which all students can come together and celebrate human rights and the overall acceptance of all people.

lanisha

Name: Lanisha Blount
Year: Sophomore
Major: Undeclared
Hometown: Augusta, GA
Position: Pride Member at Large

I love everything about Emory Pride-- the warmness of the people, the events, and the friendly atmosphere. Being an ally has made me become even more cognizant and sensitive of the daily issues of my LGBTQ peers. In the future I hope to do more advocacy on LGBT issues and concerns as they intersect with inequitable laws and injurious mind sets that have become commonplace in our culture.

Name: Lanny Gross
Year:  Junior
Major: Film Studies
Hometown: Berkeley, CA
Position: Secretary

My name is Lanny Gross, from Berkeley, CA, and I am the Pride secretary.  I am a junior at Emory college studying Film and Linguistics.  Along with Pride, I am also an active member in the Residence Hall Association, Residence Life, and Emory Tour Guides.  His favorite cartoon character is Peter Pan and his favorite sport is flonkerton (the national sport of Icelandic paper companies).  If it wasn't apprent, Lanny loves movies and draws a lot of inspirations from film.  While they might not be the best films of all time, his top three movies are "American Beauty", "Little Miss Sunshine", and "Lord of the Rings".  If you ever want to talk movies, he's your man!

Joe

Name: Joe O’Geen
Year: Junior
Major: Environmental Studies
Hometown: North Carolina
Position: Treasurer

Hey, my name is Joe O'Geen and I'm a member of Emory's c/o 2010!!  I am an Environmental Studies major, Spanish minor as well as Pre-dental.  Technically I'm a North Carolina native (go Tar Heels!) but I have always called the ATL home.  Currently, I am the treasurer of Pride and look forward to this year.  I love running, listening to all types of music, and "gettin' silly."  I have a boyfriend named Keaton who goes to Tech and is about twice my height...half kidding.
I hope you become involved in Pride this year. To me, Pride is more than just a social outlet, it's also a support network. It gives members of the LGBT community and our allies a chance to be who they want to be, no questions asked. Check it out!

Meeting Information: Fall 2008
Emory Pride meets weekly during the academic year. Check out the Office of LGBT Life calendar for meeting information.
