New User Setup

Each CampusLife staff employee is set up with a Windows login ID by their supervisor, manager or director. Your hiring supervisor will request an account for you via the Support Request system. Once you receive your login ID and password you will be able to log into any CampusLife Divison computer.

A few things to know about the CampusLife Configuration:

  • Your login will function on every CampusLife Division Windows computer except those in Housing.
  • You have been set up with a “Roaming Profile” which means your settings will roam from one computer to another, as a result of this CLTS STRONGLY encourages you to save all files to a network drive and NOT your desktop.
  • Your network drives include both a G and an H drive:
  • Save personal files to your H: drive, as these are accessible by only you and the backup program which backs it up each night.
  • Save files to the G: drive that you would like to share with others in your Department. Some large departments have set up their own sub areas, so please check with your co workers on where they might look for files that are shared.
  • Computer maintenance: Please restart your computer as you leave each day by clicking START >> SHUTDOWN >> RESTART. This will ensrue the memory is ‘flushed’ each day and still on and ready to perform virus scanning and critical updates which are applied at night (3:00 AM)
  • We manage most software remotely and maintain license logging, as a result please do not install your own software. The configuration on your computer should stop you from installing most software, but some will allow you to install it. We do not restrict any software, we just want to maintain a license log and ensure there are no known conflicts, so if you want anything, please just fill in a support request at http://help.emory.edu .
  • For support questions or requests please use our request system to log all issues at http://help.emory.edu .

CampusLife Division servers are not equipped to handle any music or video files. Should you have a business need for such files please ask your support personnel for assistance.
