Vice President and Dean of Campus Life

Emory University

It is with excitement that we announce the launch of the search process for the Vice President and Dean of Campus Life. This position is critical to Emory’s continued growth as an academic community committed to a vibrant and inclusive student experience.

A Search Advisory Committee, comprised of Emory faculty, students, staff, and alumni, has been formed. Its co-chairs are Michael A. Elliott and Pamela Scully. Elliott is Dean of the Emory College of Arts & Sciences and Charles Howard Candler Professor of English, and Scully is Professor of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies & African Studies, and incoming Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education. She is also the outgoing director of the Center for Faculty Development and Excellence.

Ellen Brown Landers of Heidrick & Struggles will serve as the search consultant for this position. She knows Emory well through her prior involvement with key leadership searches. In addition, she is highly regarded as an expert in higher education. She has the unique ability to create consensus and integrate a variety of input to fully develop a position profile and appropriately source highly competitive candidates.

A word about next steps: Over the next few months, the search advisory committee, with assistance from the search consultant, will develop a work plan and initiate “listening meetings” with members of the Emory community. A profile will be developed based on community feedback and will outline the expected qualifications for the new vice president.

We'd love to hear from you.Two town hall meetings have just been scheduled. We encourage all Emory members to attend one and share your thoughts and ideas:

Monday, April 30, 4:00-5:00 p.m. Location: 205 White Hall

Wednesday, May 2, 4:00-5:00 p.m. Location: Center for Ethics Commons, room 102

The search process will be regularly updated on this website.

We are grateful to the search advisory committee and the greater Emory community for your commitment to ensure a successful outcome for this search. Your input and participation will be critical to identifying the next leader of Campus Life—a leader who is the right fit for our community, who understands our challenges and our strengths, who wants to participate in our collective work, and who has a vision for helping us achieve compassion and excellence in all we do as a campus community.
