The Division of Campus Life wants to ensure you have at your fingertips various important resources to help support you while at Emory. Over the past few years, our community has experienced an increase in awareness of various insensitivities in our community coupled with increasing efforts to prevent and respond to sexual assault and high-risk alcohol use.
As part of the response to these incidents and based on feedback from students in the Campus Life Compact, a team of Campus Life staff from the Office of Health Promotion, the Office of Multicultural Programs and Services, the Office of Lesbian|Gay|Bisexual|Transgender Life, the Office of Residence Life, and the Office of Student Leadership and Service convened to determine strategies to promote and infuse discussions around inclusion, diversity, and accountability into orientation programs. This includes multicultural and identity awareness, sexual assault and violence prevention, and overall congruence work. This three-part conversation occurred for the first time during Orientation 2013 and focused on the notion of “creating” the Emory community hence, “Creating Emory.”
We want all students to have access to these key resources related to these issues. You may also want to check out the infographic or video that were shown on the first night of Creating Emory.
