Studies in Nepali History and Society

ISSN: 1025-5109

Studies in Nepali History and Society began publication in 1996. SINHAS provides an interdisciplinary forum for original research. The journal's emphasis is on work that i) opens up to scholarship areas of study that have not traditionally been part of "Nepal Studies" and ii) casts new light on familiar topics. Articles are either in English or Nepali. Contents of SINHAS include:

Proposals for submissions in any of these areas are welcome. Please see Notes for Contributors for further information.

SINHAS aims to further understanding of cultural politics and social conditions in Nepal through a commitment to historical analysis, attention to Nepali scholarship, and a willingness to explore new terrain. SINHAS will be of value not only to scholars of Nepal, but also to development practitioners, and to other South Asianists who seek to understand the complex history of Nepali society. SINHAS encourages clear and jargon-free prose. Thus it will also be a useful source for travellers and others interested in Nepal who seek a more in-depth picture of Nepali society than that provided by guidebooks and travel literature.
