My Background

• I'm a programmer.
  20 years computer experience, same e-mail since 1989
  1996: won 1^st prize in Java programming contest, took a year off to volunteer on the web
  7 I&R web sites, see http://www.emory.edu/CRL/abb/IR/
• I promise not to lapse into alphabet soup of the Internet
• To gauge the level of detail, I must ask this:
  How many have used a programming language?
  (e.g. Basic, C, Excel macros, any scripting language...)
• This talk is necessarily a "how-to" targeted at those with a little programming experience or a desire to learn.
  It may scare some of you away from the web, or it may persuade you that you should pay for a commercial product with full support.
