Incoming Freshmen Learn CPR With The "How To Save A Life" Campaign
Posted September 16, 2008
On Sunday, August 24, 2008, over 400 incoming freshmen gathered in the Woodruff PE Center to participate in Emory's newest campus CPR initiative, the "How To Save A Life" campaign. The event was hosted by Emory EMS, in partnership with SGA, ResLife and Student Health and Counseling Services, and was included as part of Emory's freshmen orientation program. Chief of EMS Kevin Smith said of the event, "I think it's really incredible that so many of the new freshmen came to this event and were willing to give their time to learn CPR. This is an important training program and one that helps to make Emory's campus one of the safest in the country." The hour-long program taught the students the basic skills involved in performing CPR, as well as basic AED usage techniques and the steps involved in activating an emergency response. Overall, the program was an incredible success and successfully achieved its goal of helping to increase awareness and safety on Emory's campus.
