Emory EMS Training Division
The Training Division of Emory EMS consists of a Chief and Asst. Chief, who together work to coordinate the annual EMT-Intermediate class, provide Continuing Education opportunities for EEMS medics, and make sure that every EEMS medic has current certifications. Each year, EEMS offers an EMT class for Emory students. The Training Division works with an outside instructor to coordinate one class each academic year. At the end of each year, members of the EMT class who pass the National Registry exam are given the opportunity to apply to join EEMS.

Training also coordinates Continuing Education courses (CEs) for EEMS medics. To maintain an EMT (Basic, Intermediate, or Paramedic) license, the EMT must complete a certain number of hours of continuing education. Most EEMS medics are EMT-Intermediates, which are required by the state of Georgia to complete 40 CE hours every 2 years. EEMS offers several CEs throughout each year to help our EMTs reach their requisite number of hours. In addition to these CE hours, EEMS offers an annual CPR/BLS recertification and a biannual National Registry recertification. |
