Campus Life

As sophomores, Wendy Rosenberg-Nadel 82C and Debbie Genzer 82C founded Volunteer Emory. This year the organization turns thirty and is creating an endowment. Alumni and friends can help with their gifts.

Candler School of Theology

The E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation has made a grant that will enable Candler to further address seminary student debt through educational programs in financial management for those called to serve in ministry settings.

Emory College of Arts and Sciences

Edward Olanow 93C, a member of the Jake Ward Consecutive Giving Society, has made a gift to support Emory Advantage for students of Emory College of Arts and Sciences.

Emory Healthcare

The Gladys and Jack Hirsch Foundation gave $10,000 to the Carlyle Fraser Heart Center to help upgrade its state-of-the-art educational facility. Emory trains physicians around the world using high-definition cameras to broadcast live case demonstrations.

Emory Law

The class of 2010 presented its class gift to Dean David F. Partlett during 2010 Commencement. The $107,025 gift was the largest in the school’s history and benefits the Loan Repayment Assistance Program and clinical programs.

Emory Libraries

Turner Cassity, nationally known poet and longtime library staff member, left a $100,000 bequest to help create a new home for the Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library, where his papers reside.

Emory School of Medicine

Former scholarship recipients Maggie Shuler 89C 96G 96M and Fred Shuler 93M 94MR 95MR support medical students through generous gifts to the Adopt-a-Doc expendable scholarship program.

Goizueta Business School

Graduating students in the BBA, MBA, Executive MBA, and Evening MBA programs made class gifts in 2010 totaling more than $250,000. The gifts will fund renovation in the GBS building and technological resources for the programs.

James T. Laney School of Graduate Studies

Strategic consultant Beth Schapiro 77G 79G has made a generous gift to the Eleanor Main Outreach Fund to honor her late mentor. The fund benefits the Challenge and Champions program.

Michael C. Carlos Museum

Carlos Museum board member Joan Sammons has established the Family of Ted and Joan Sammons Endowment Fund for exhibitions and exhibition design.

Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing

Bernard Blackwell made a gift to the Elizabeth Mabry Scholarship Endowment to honor the birthday of his wife, Martha Blackwell 52N.

Oxford College

The Scholarship Committee of the Board of Counselors has pledged to support Oxford’s scholarship endowment by raising $100,000 in gifts by August 31, 2010. Oxford awards nearly $7 million in scholarship support each year.

Rollins School of Public Health

In anticipation of the opening of the Claudia Nance Rollins Building, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends are making gifts to the Seat Our Future campaign. Plaques in the building’s auditorium will honor loved ones, colleagues, professors, and friends.

Yerkes National Primate Research Center

Yerkes employees are showing their support for the center’s research through the MyEmory employee-giving campaign, meeting a match challenge that Yerkes director Stuart Zola issued in May.
