Major:

Biology, minor in human and natural ecology

Post-graduation plan:

The day after Commencement, joined a team of Emory and Oxford students traveling to Durban, South Africa, to build homes with Habitat for Humanity

Career and life plan: "Attend medical school and specialize in internal medicine and infectious diseases. Ultimately, I want to work in international public health with indigenous people, integrating traditional and Western health-care systems."
A major accomplishment at Emory: "I brought back the yearbook and acted as executive director."

Motto:

"Walk on air against your better judgment." (Seamus Heaney)
A life-changing experience at Emory:

"During my freshman year, I attended a lecture by Eloy Rodriguez, a visiting professor from Cornell University. I became interested in his work in the tropical rain forest with medicinal plants. Later, I joined his team as a National Institutes of Health undergraduate research fellow and conducted fieldwork for three months in the Yucatan in Mexico. The following summer, I worked in the Venezuelan Amazon. I have since shifted my career focus, published my research, and most importantly, gained a greater understanding of this planet, its people, and myself."
