Naumburg Competition winner Santiago to perform at Emory

Soprano Theresa Santiago, a 25-year-old native of New York and graduate of The Juilliard School, will perform at at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, at Cannon Chapel.

Santiago has been praised for her high level of artistry and recently was named the winner of the International Naumburg Vocal Competition in concert repertoire. Santiago is the winner of the 1993 D'Angelo Competition and second prize winner in the Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation competition. She also was a 1994 Metropolitan Opera National Council finalist. Her 1994-95 season includes appearances throughout the United States, including her award concert in Alice Tully Hall to be performed on March 29.

For her Emory appearance, Santiago will perform:

*The Blessed Virgin's Expostu-lation by Purcell

*Four Songs, Op. 2: Waldsonne, Erwartung, Schenk mir deinen goldenen kamm, and Erhebung by Schönberg.

*Al Amor: Corazón, porqué pasáis; Con amores, la me madre; Del cabello más sutil; and Chiquitita la novia by Obradors.

*L'invitation au voyage, Chanson Triste and Le Manoir de Rosemonde by Duparc.

*Three Songs, Op. 11: The Rose of the Night, Thy Dark Eyes to Mine and The Lament of Ian the Proud by Griffes.

*Oh, Never Sing to me again, Op. 4; Dreams, Op. 38; How fair this spot! Op. 21; and Spring Waters, Op. 14 by Rachmaninoff.
