Express shuttle service begun from Lindbergh MARTA station

As part of an ongoing effort to reduce the volume of traffic coming to campus each day, MARTA has expanded its express shuttle service to Emory.

On Jan. 17, MARTA began operating an express shuttle from the Lindbergh rail station in Buckhead to the Emory campus. The shuttle makes two morning rush hour trips Monday-Friday, leaving Lindbergh at 7:37 a.m. and 7:52 a.m. and arriving at Emory Hospital at 7:54 a.m. and 8:09 a.m., respectively. Although the Lindbergh express currently does not run in the afternoons, the MARTA's standard Route 6 bus follows the same path from Emory to Lindbergh.

"This is an indication of MARTA's willingness and desire to work with us," said Erick Gaither, director of Emory Parking and Community Services. "I like to think of our relationship with MARTA as a partnership. I hope this new route will lead to even more MARTA routes through Emory."

Emory began offering fully-subsidized MARTA transcards, a $43-per-month value, to eligible employees last September. Gaither said at the time, only about 250 Emory employees were riding MARTA. He expects about 650 employees to use MARTA for their work commute during February.

The express shuttle from the Kensington MARTA station, also begun last September, makes six trips during morning rush hour and six trips during the afternoon rush hour and stops only at locations along the Clifton corridor. The Kensington shuttle schedule is as follows:
