Baseball players
lend a hand at Habitat House
Emory's baseball team, including Pranat Kumar (left) and Brad Barnes
(right),
pitched in to help with construction of a Habitat for Humanity house. The
team,
under the direction of Coach Kevin Howard, volunteered for a Saturday
morning
that included a 7:15 a.m. departure from Emory. Despite a torrential
downpour,
the group was able to put up tresses for the roof and reinforce the
structure
of the walls before the Habitat foreman called it a day. Kumar is a
freshman
catcher from Wetumpka, Ala., and Barnes, who is expected to start at
third base
for the Eagles this season, is a senior from Exton, Pa. Emory opens its
baseball season Feb. 11 in a construction project of its own, the
newly-completed Chappell Park.
