Renowned baritone to present recital and masterclass

A widely recognized performer and music educator, William McGraw will be in residence at Emory for a recital and a masterclass. In his masterclasses held throughout the United States and in his teaching at the College-Conservatory of Music of the University of Cincinnati, McGraw emphasizes beauty of vocal tone above all else. He has performed opera, oratorio and art-song recitals nationally and internationally. He recently appeared as a featured recitalist in the J. Paul Getty Museum Concert Series, as soloist with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and in the Indianapolis Opera production of Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore.

McGraw's recital and masterclass are presented as part of the Cannon Chapel Virtuoso Series.

McGraw will perform in a recital with pianist Kenneth Griffith at 8:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, in Cannon Chapel. The recital will feature the works of Handel, Debussy, Brahms and Quilter. Tickets are $10 general admission. Call 727-6187 for tickets.

The masterclass will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, in Glenn Memorial Auditorium. The masterclass is free, but registration is required by calling 727-6442.
