New dialing procedures for United Kingdom

On April 16, dialing instructions changed for reaching the United Kingdom (England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland). A "1" must now be inserted between the country code and the city code. To call the United Kingdom from a campus telephone, dial *91 + authorization code + 9 + 011 + 44 + 1 + city code + local number.

In addition, the city codes for five British cities have changed. The new codes are: Leeds, 113; Sheffield, 114; Nottingham, 115; Leicester, 116; and Bristol, 117.

Scrap metal recycling available on campus

Recycling Coordinator Elaine Gossett has announced that a large container for scrap metal recycling is available for campus use. The container is located on Peavine Creek Drive in the grounds department's fenced storage area next to Chappell Park. The area is open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday. Items that can be deposited in the recycling container include rinsed tin cans, old grills, appliances, metal cabinets and desks, and lawn mowers. Before depositing refrigeration equipment, contact Gossett at 727-1796 to arrange for removal of CFCs. Gossett has also distributed a recycling survey to selected faculty and staff, and those who wish to receive a copy of the survey may contact her at the number listed above.
