Minorities Commission seeks nominations

The President's Commission on the Status of Minorities (PCSM) is seeking nominations for faculty, staff and student members for 1995-96. Terms for faculty and staff members are for three years, while most student terms are for one or two years.

Through its three committees on faculty, staff and student concerns, the PCSM considers a variety of issues relevant to minority community members at Emory and makes recommendations to the president on how best to address those issues.

Nominations should be submitted by Friday, April 7, through interoffice mail to PCSM Chair Kym Harris, 104 Human Resources, 1762 Clifton Road, or by telephone at 727-0413.

Women's Center Board members sought

The Emory Women's Center Advisory Board, which advises Director Ali P. Crown on programs and policies and facilitates communication between the Women's Center and the Emory community, is seeking recommendations for at-large board members. At-large members are drawn from six constituencies: administrators, staff, arts and sciences faculty, other faculty, undergraduate students and graduate/professional students. Volunteer Emory/RACE sponsor trip

On Saturday, April 1, Volunteer Emory and RACES (Racial and Cultural Education Source) are sponsoring a free trip to the Birmingham Civil Rights Museum and Institute from 11:30 a.m. -6:30 p.m. Those interested should meet in front of the PECenter. To reserve a space, call 712-8374.

Nominations sought for Thomas Jefferson Award

Emory faculty are invited to submit nominations for the Thomas Jefferson Award, the University's highest honor for faculty and administrators for significant service through personal activities, influence and leadership. The award will be presented at commencement on Monday, May 8.

The recipient traditionally has been selected for service performed at Emory over many years. The award recognizes personal and professional integrity as well as distinguished service in the following areas: teaching; research and scholarship; non-academic accomplishments with students; University advancement and development in relation to the entire University or an area, school or division; and community or educational service on the local, state or national level.

Nominations, in the form of a letter detailing the contributions of the nominee, as well as supporting letters from colleagues, should be sent no later than Monday, April 10, to Marcy Alexander in the Provost's Office.
