Campus Life celebrates Jenkins' 50 years at Emory

On March 20, the Division of Campus Life hosted a reception for Helen Jenkins, the University's food services liaison, in honor of her 50th anniversary at Emory. The event included the presentation to Jenkins of a plaque acknowledging her years of service, and the unveiling of a perpetual plaque to recognize recipients of Campus Life's Helen W. Jenkins Lifetime Achievement Award, which was named for Jenkins last year and is given to a Campus Life staff member annually. Jenkins made history by becoming Emory College's first woman administrator when she began working at Emory on March 5, 1945, as assistant director of food services. She was promoted to director of food services in 1955 and food services liaison in 1984. Jenkins has served as president of the Southeastern Hospital Conference of Dietitians, the Atlanta Dietetics Association and the Georgia Dietetics Association.
