Fetal behavior and development study
The psychology department needs female volunteers who are at least 20
weeks
pregnant for a study on the behavior and development of unborn babies.
Women
will be paid for participation. For information, call 686-7522.
Ocular herpes studies
Corneal specialists at the Eye Center need volunteers for ocular herpes
prevention studies. Participants must be over 12 years of age. One study
requires that a documented ocular herpes outbreak has occurred in the
last
year. A second study provides treatment for a new outbreak that is less
than
one week old. Ocular herpes is an eye condition caused by the herpes
simplex
virus, initial symptoms are discomfort or pain, redness or tearing, and
sometimes vision impairment. For information, call 778-4443.
Sleep disorder study
Adults over age 65 who have trouble sleeping are being recruited for
investigational drug studies at the Emory Sleep Disorders Center, located
at
Wesley Woods Geriatric Center. Physical examinations, laboratory tests
and
medications will be provided without charge. Call 800-332-4838 for
information.
Adolescent adjustment study
Participants are needed for a research project on adolescent adjustment.
To
qualify, the adolescent must be between 12 and 18 years of age and be
experiencing difficulties in at least two of the following areas: social
competence/peer relationships; unusual ideas; extreme or unexpected
emotional
reactions; and excessive fears. Parents and/or teachers of participants
will
receive feedback and recommendations concerning the psychological
adjustment of
