Second annual Thomas
Aquinas Lecture
to address Manning's conversion
"A Question of Sovereignty: The Politics of Manning's Conversion" will be
the
topic of the second annual Thomas Aquinas Lecture, sponsored by the
Aquinas
Center of Theology. Peter Erb of the Department of Religion and Culture
at
Wilfrid Laurier University will speak at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 4; a
reception will follow. Erb is currently completing an edition of the
correspondence between Cardinal Manning and William Gladstone, much of
which
resides in Pitts Theology Library. The library is exhibiting items from
the
Cardinal Manning Collection during the month of December. For more

Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols
set this weekend
A holiday tradition begun 71 years ago at Emory continues this year with
the
presentation of the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols. Performances of
the
concert will be presented Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 and 2 at 8:15 p.m. each
evening,
as well as 5 p.m. on Dec. 2. All performances will be held in Glenn
Memorial
Auditorium. Dating from the 12th century, the service is patterned after
the
traditional Christmas service at King's College Chapel in Cambridge,
England.
The service consists of scripture lessons read by Emory community members
in
conjunction with the performance of international carols by the
University
Chorus and other Emory groups. Call 727-6187 for ticket information.
Due date for enrollment forms is Nov. 30
A memo sent to employees regarding the Benefits Election Period
mistakenly
listed Nov. 30, 1996, as the due date for all enrollment forms. All forms
must
be completed by Thursday, Nov. 30, 1995. For more information, call Human

School of Theology to hold folk Advent service
"A Southern Folk Advent," a service melding folk preaching, bluegrass
music and
folk hymns from the Sacred Harp tune book, will be held at 7:30 p.m. on
Tuesday, Dec. 5, in Cannon Chapel. Free tickets are available through the
Emory
box office at 727-6187.
