Campus mourns death of Senior Jennifer Canter

The Emory community has mourned this past week, with the death of College senior Jennifer Canter. Canter died Oct. 13 from injuries resulting from an accident on Oct. 9, when the horse she was riding was struck by a Jeep Wagoneer.

Canter was taking horseback riding lessons in Austell with fellow Outdoor Emory student Grayson Wolfe and an instructor when the accident occurred. The riding instructor was thrown from the horse, but later released from the hospital without injuries. Wolfe, who was not injured, went to a nearby house and called 911.

Transported to Promina Cobb Hospital, Canter suffered from major damage to the frontal lobe of her brain. She was in a coma until her death.

Heavily involved in Outdoor Emory, Canter also served as a resident adviser in University Apartments, a manager for the men's soccer team and a Freshman seminar leader.

Nancy Baxter, the Episcopal campus minister, led a memorial service for members of the Emory community on Oct. 16.
