President's Commission on Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual Concerns

The Oct. 2 meeting of the President's Commission on Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual Concerns (LGB Commission) saw the formation of three committees to carry out three of the group's major projects for the year.

The Commission formed an Outreach Committee and a committee to continue study of a proposed LGB Studies Program. The work of a third committee, on Domestic Partnership Benefits, will include following up on implementation of the plan already adopted for faculty and staff, as well as investigating the possibility of informal arrangements for the same-sex partners of students to have P.E. Center and library privileges and the right to purchase health insurance offered to students.

In addition, the Commission voted to spend $500 to include the group in the next publication of the "Representation at Emory" brochure that includes information on the Employee Council, Faculty Council, President's Commission on the Status of Minorities, and President's Commission on the Status of Women. The brochure is usually included in the packet of information that Human Resources gives to new employees.

Commission member Jeremy Corry reported that the Commission's home page on the World Wide Web is up and running.
