Ongoing Studies
Women ages 50-79 are invited to participate in groundbreaking Women's
Health Initiative
Women in the metropolitan Atlanta area are invited to participate in a
large
dietary and hormone replacement study. Volunteers must be between 50-79
years
of age and should already have undergone menopause. Qualified
participants may
receive free clinic visits, blood pressure and EKG screenings, body
measurements, breast exams, mammograms and nutrition information.
The Women's Health Initiative, which is sponsored by the National
Institutes
of Health, will last eight to 12 years and will include 3,600 Atlanta
women.

Older adults who have trouble sleeping needed
Adults over age 65 who have trouble sleeping are being recruited for
investigational drug studies at the Emory Sleep Disorders Center, located
at
Wesley Woods Geriatric Center. Physical examinations, laboratory tests
and
medications will be provided without charge.

Women who have undergone menopause needed for estrogen patch
study
Women who are either 45 or older, have had a hysterectomy or who believe
their
menopause began less than three years ago may qualify for a study of a
new
estrogen patch.
Qualified volunteers will receive free bone density scans, EKGs,
mammograms,
physical examinations and laboratory tests at the School of Medicine.

Schizophrenia drug study begins
Men and women who are suffering from schizophrenia, schizoaffective
disorder or
tardive dyskinesia and who are interested in the latest treatment
options, may
be eligible for the Schizophrenia Clinical Trials Program.
This clinical research team has inpatient and outpatient studies
available.
Medication is provided at no cost, in addition to free physicals,
laboratory
analysis and eye exams. The clinical trials team will also coordinate
care with
