Conference to address women faculty's concerns
Monday, Oct. 2, is the deadline to register for the President's Commission on the Status of Women's (PCSW) second annual conference on strategies for success for women faculty.
The conference, titled "Surviving and Thriving at Emory University," is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 14, from 8:45 a.m.-4 p.m. at the nursing school. After a continental breakfast and registration, three panel discussions will address the following topics:

*"Appointment, Promotion, Tenure and Gender," with panelists Peggy Barlett from anthropology, Shelia Cavanaugh from English, Kelly Turney from Equal Opportunity Programs, and attorney Marcia Borowski. 9:30-11:45 a.m.

*"Balancing Personal and Professional Lives," with panelists Robin Blaetz from film studies, Victoria Phillips from public health, Deborah Thoreson from music, and Amy Lang from the Institute of the Liberal Arts. 1-2 p.m.

*"Teaching and Research," with panelists Gretchen Schultz from Oxford College, Robin Fivush from psychology, Donna Owen from nursing, and Molly Weinburg from Georgia State University. 2-3 p.m.

A reception will follow from 3-4 p.m.

Mental Health Forum to focus on fostering statewide reform The Rosalynn Carter Georgia Mental Health Forum will be held at The Carter Center on Monday, Oct. 2, from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Sponsored by The Carter Center Mental Health Program, the Georgia Mental Health Association and the Georgia Parent Support Network, the forum will focus on ways to foster Georgia's ongoing reform effort.
The forum is designed to complement the Rosalynn Carter Symposium on Mental Health Policy, which has been held each fall at The Carter Center for more than a decade.
Keynote speakers will be Karl Dennis, director of Kaleidoscope, a community-based child welfare agency in Chicago; and Henry Harbin, professor of clinical psychiatry at the University of Maryland and chair of the American Managed Behavioral Healthcare Association. Glenn School holds fall clothing sale
The Glenn School for Young Children is holding its 18th semi-annual clothing sale on Friday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. (no children or babies before noon), and Saturday, Sept. 30, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. (half-price day). Items for sale include used fall and winter clothes in girls' infant through size 12 and boys' infant through size 14, children's shoes and accessories, maternity items, baby equipment, toys, books and games.
