Friends of the Library to hold `Big Book Sale'
Emory's "Big Book Sale" will be held Sept. 13-16 in Candler Library.
Hours are:
10 a.m. -8 p.m. Sept. 14 and 15, and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 16. Admission
to the
preview sale from 6-9 p.m. Sept. 13 is $10. Most books are priced from 50
cents
to $1. A number of first and limited editions also will be available.

Keep in mind major religious holidays
University Chaplain Susan Henry-Crowe is asking all faculty and staff to
be
aware of the dates of major religious holidays so they can anticipate
potential
schedule conflicts involving large numbers of students. The dates of
major
Christian, Islamic and Jewish holidays for 1995-96 that will occur while
classes are in session are as follows:
Christian:
Ash Wednesday, Feb. 21
Good Friday, April 5
Easter, April 7
Islamic:
Ramadan, begins Jan. 21
Eid-Ul-Fitz, Feb. 17-19
Eid-Ul-Adha, April 25-27
Jewish:
Rosh Hashanah, Sept. 25-26
Yom Kippur, Oct. 4
Sukkot, begins Oct. 9-10 and ends Oct. 16-17
Hanukkah, Dec. 18-25
Passover, begins April 4-5 and ends April 10-11
Carlos Museum changes hours
Carlos Museum has changed the hours of operation for the gallery,
bookshop and
Caffe Antico. The new hours are: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and
noon-5 p.m.
Sunday for the museum gallery and bookshop; and 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Monday-Friday, 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday, and noon-4:30 p.m. Sunday
for
Caffe Antico.
5K run for Parkison's offers $4,500 purse
Members of the Emory community are invited to run or walk for Parkinson's
disease research on Saturday, Sept. 16, at Mercer University, near
Chamblee-Tucker Road at I-85. Winners of the American Parkinson Disease
Association's 1995 5K Run and Walk, sponsored in part by the Emory System
of
Health Care, will take home $4,500 in prize money. All participants will
receive a free t-shirt.
Registration is at 5 p.m., the run starts at 6 p.m., and the walk at 7
p.m.
The entry fee is $12 for those who register before Sept. 15 or $15 on the
day
of the race.
