Bynum directs AIDS awareness play for middle school students

Theater Emory's resident actor/director Brenda Bynum wore two hats as she presented a play to a theater studies class earlier this month. As an Alliance Theater faculty member, Bynum currently is directing "Let's Talk About AIDS," a play with music, written by Alliance resident playwright Sandra Deer. The play aims to dispel myths about AIDS and is to offered middle schools at no charge through Project MAGIC (Making AIDS Go Away In Children). The Alliance and Emory's theater studies department and Theater Emory collaborate on many projects and programs, and will have a reciprocal relationship in Emory's proposed master's program in theater. Pictured here, clockwise, from center front, are Bynum and the play's cast members: Jill Hames, Amy Banks, Philip Anthony Traylor, Sandra Deer, Brenda Bynum, and Brian Barrentine.
