Kenny Leon to deliver Whiteside Lecture

Kenny Leon, artistic director of the Alliance Theatre Company, will deliver the theology school's 1996 Whiteside Lecture at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, in Cannon Chapel. The lecture is free and open to the public. Leon's considerable directing and acting credits include theater, television and film productions throughout the country. His education and training include studies at Clark Atlanta University, the Theatre Communications Group Directors Fellow Program, and nine years with the Academy of Music and Theatre. A member of Atlanta's Cascade United Methodist Church, Leon has been honored with numerous awards for professional achievement and community involvement.

Libraries start 24-hour extended access pilot project

The General Libraries have begun a pilot project that includes 24-hour access to portions of Woodruff Library and a revised schedule for Candler Library.

During the pilot, the following areas of Woodruff Library will be open during extended hours: Entrance floor and restrooms, Main Floor and Ground Floor Lobby. All staff areas will be locked down, as will elevators; access to stack floors 1-6 will not be permitted. An EmoryCard ID will be required for access during extended hours. A staff of three, including a uniformed security officer, will be present in the building to provide security and monitor the facility.

Minorities Commission seeks nominations

The President's Commission on the Status of Minorities (PCSM) invites faculty and staff to submit nominations for PCSM membership for 1996-97. Positions are available for faculty, staff and students. Students serve one-year terms, while faculty and staff serve three years.

Nomination letters (including a statement of interest in serving on the Commission and a resumé) should be mailed to Cristina de la Torre, Spanish Department. Self-nominations are accepted. Nominations are due by Thursday, March 7. For more information, call de la Torre at 727-6435.
