Concert features Irish love songs
James Flannery, professor of theater studies, and Irish harpist Janet Harbison
will present the joint recital "Bardic Reveries and Raptures: Traditional
Love Songs of the Irish," at 8:15 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Carlos
Museum. The concert will feature music from their album of the same title
including the famous Irish Melodies of Thomas Moore, selections ranging
from familiar pieces to little known versions of the ancient bardic airs
of Gaelic Ireland.
Flannery, director of the W.B. Yeats Foundation, is a renowned tenor and
an interpreter of Irish and Irish-American songs. Harbison is an acclaimed
Irish harpist, founder of the Belfast Harp Orchestra as well as a featured
performer with The Chieftains. Ticket prices are $15 in advance, $12.50
at the door and $7.50 for students. For reservations or further information
