Come soar to 'Greater Heights'

with fellow Emory staff

Another academic year draws to a close. It's time to have some fun. The 19th annual Staff Fest takes place on Thursday, May 15, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on the quad. This year's theme is "Emory: Soaring to Greater Heights"

Various door prizes will be given away and a $1,000 travel voucher will be awarded as the grand prize.

Eleven games, including trivial pursuit, horseshoes, tic tac toss, goofy golf, a football toss, and milk jug throw, are on tap from beginning to end and a coed, team volleyball tournament takes place from noon to 2 p.m.

The Well House and Woodruff P.E. Center sponsor an Apple FunRun and Apple FunWalk. The two mile run begins at Lullwater at 10 a.m. and the one mile walk begins at 10:30 a.m. Top finishers in each category will be awarded a one-month membership in the new Blomeyer Health Fitness Center.

Other activities include 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. tours of the Carlos Museum; a clean commute booth with information on Clean Commute Day as well as Emory's carpool and MARTA incentives. The Blomeyer Health Fitness Center's booth will offer a $25 discount on memberships to the nearly completed fitness center.

Lunch includes barbecued chicken, black bean and corn salad with entertainment provided by emcee Mike Wallace and DJ Bradley Mikelson.

Commemorative t-shirts are still available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. through May 14.

It's not too late to volunteer. Call the volunteer voice mailbox at 712-0220 and leave your name, department, phone number, hours you can work and what service you would like to help with.

Remember to look for the volunteers in blue t-shirts and thank them for the time and effort they've put into this event. In the event of rain, food will be served in Dobbs Center and games and entertainment will be held in the P.E. Center.
