Start Your Engines! Greenlight on Electronic Resources for Business

Looking for company or industry information? Try GALILEO, Georiga's statewide information gateway to more than 100 major research databases. Emory faculty, students and staff now can access a wide array of company information sources, business journals and related electronic indexes quickly and easily from campus or from home with Emory Connect software.

You can access GALILEO by connecting to <www.galileo.peachnet.edu> or though Emory's site. Here are just a few of many electronic business resources now available:

ABI/Inform (1971-present, updated weekly), covering a wide range of business and management topics including advertising, banking, computers, economics, foreign investment and trade, management, marketing, public administration, taxation and telecommunications. More than 1,400 journals and trade magazines are indexed, and, since 1991, full-text articles have been provided for nearly half of these titles.

Business & Industry (1994-present, updated daily), indexes some 700 trade magazines, newsletters, and general and international business dailies, providing an important source for international information on public and private companies, products and markets for all manufacturing and service industries.

Business Dateline (1985-present, updated weekly), contains full-text articles from more than 450 sources including regional publications, press releases and major newspapers. The service covers topics such as company and executive profiles, corporate strategies, high technology, manufacturing, marketing, retailing and regional business environments.

DataTimes (1985-present, updated daily), an excellent source for current news, indexing 70 U.S. newspapers and, since 1996, 15 international financial and regional newspapers.

Disclosure Corporate Snapshots (latest two years, updated weekly), an excellent source for directory and financial information on some 11,000 publicly owned companies, based on their filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange division. Included in its coverage are company summary data, balance sheets, income statements, price/earnings/dividends data and subsidiary information.

EBSCO Business Search (1995-present, updated weekly), indexes more than 900 business-related publications, both scholarly and popular, of which more than half are available with full text.
