IRS to conduct audit

As a part of its nationwide Coordinated Examination Program (CEP), the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will be conducting an audit of Emory's 1999 and 2000 federal tax returns beginning in late August.

Since the CEP initiative began in 1991, many universities and other non-profits have undergone these routine, though complex, audits. CEP audits are focused on large tax exempt organizations and typically last over two years.

The scope of the IRS audit at Emory will cover the tax returns of Emory University as well as all of the returns of all Emory-related entities such as the Emory Clinic, Wesley Woods Center and The Emory Child-ren's Center. This is the first full-scope IRS audit of the Univer-sity since 1985.

Any employee asked to provide information in connection with the audit first should contact Vice President for Finance and Treasurer Frank Huff at 404-727-6086 or Kim Piar of the General Counsel's Office at 404-727-6011.
