Medical care foundation grant deadline nears
The deadline for prospects for the Emory Medical Care Foundation (EMCF) Faculty Scholars Program is Jan. 15.

The Faculty Scholars Program is a two-year career development award of up to $50,000 annually for outstanding junior faculty working in the Grady Health System.

Essays now being accepted for LGBT contest
Submissions are now being accepted for the President’s Commission on LGBT Concerns’ annual essay contest. Prizes of $500 will be awarded to the best graduate essay and $250 to the top undergraduate entry.

To be eligible, students must have completed their entries while enrolled at Oxford or Emory during the Spring, Summer or Fall 2000 semesters. Graduate essays or dissertation chapters of 15–35 pages and undergraduate essays of 10–20 pages on any topic in lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender/queer studies will be considered.

Submissions are due by noon, Friday, Feb. 2. They can be addressed to Box 24075, Emory, Atlanta, Ga. 30322; or delivered to the Office of LGBT Life, room 244E of the Dobbs Center. For delivery information on the Oxford campus, or if you have any questions, contact Susan Browne at 404-727-6590.

Hospitals, Borders Books sponsor depression lecture
Join Emory Hospitals and Borders Books Midtown for a discussion on emotional fall-outs from the holiday season. Psychiatrist William McDonald of Wesley Woods will be speaking.

The presentation is free and begins at 7 p.m. in the Cafe Expresso of the Borders Books Midtown at 650 Ponce de Leon Ave.
