Schatten features Family History Artbook Project
Through Aug. 20, the Woodruff Library’s Schatten Gallery will display stories, text and visual materials created by students at Bethune Elementary School for the Family History Artbook Project.

The Atlanta Contemporary Art Center founded the project in 1991. The after-school program for fourth- and fifth-graders focuses on a language and visual arts curriculum to increase self-esteem and knowledge of family and community history.

Students research family trees and compile a portfolio of stories, visual materials and interviews. Together with a working artist, the students then develop this material into a distinctive family history artbook.

For more information, call 404-727-6861.
