Howett Smith named interim Carlos director
Interim Provost Woody Hunter has named Catherine Howett Smith as interim director of the Carlos Museum, following the departure of Director Tony Hirschel on Nov. 2.

Formerly associate director of the museum, Howett Smith will continue her duties as interim director until a permanent replacement is named, Hunter said.

“Catherine has been a devoted member of the Emory community for years,” Hunter said. “She brings great knowledge and skills to the tasks at hand—as well as a deep, abiding commitment to the University and to the museum.”

 

Mary Lynn Morgan lecture features Toomey
The third annual Mary Lynn Morgan Lectureship on Women in the Health Professions will be presented by Kathleen Toomey, director of the Division of Public Health of the Georgia Department of Human Resources.

The program will be Wednesday, Oct. 17 at Miller-Ward Alumni House at
7:30 p.m. A reception will follow Toomey’s lecture and the event is free and open to the public.

INTERxVENT program offers open enrollment
The cardiovascular risk reduction program INTERxVENT is offering open enrollment for Emory employees, Oct. 15-26.

The program provides participants with educational kits and self-management tools designed to help monitor and improve diets and exercise programs with the goal of leading a healthier lifestyle.

INTERxVENT representatives are available in Building A of the Emory Clinic, Mondays-Thursdays, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., as well as at Crawford Long.
