Convocation greet new freshman class: Emory’s Class of 2005 plants a sugar maple outside of the Callaway Center following convocation, Aug. 28. Following short addresses by President Bill Chace and Emory College Dean Bobby Paul, a handful of onlookers read poems that reference trees. After the reading, several freshmen grabbed shovels and put the finishing touches on what looks to be Emory’s newest tradition.
