The Presidents Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) met
March 7 at 3:30 p.m. in 400 Administration. Members approved funding
for the commissions annual Spring Event, to be held April
18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Law Schools Tull Auditorium. Frances
Smith-Foster, director of the Institute for Womens Studies
and Charles Howard Candler Professor of English, will be the guest
speaker. Food will be served prior to and after the event, where
PCSWs annual writing contest awards will be presented. Cost
to attend is $5.
Anne Kelly from the faculty concerns committee said there is still
no data for its tenure study from the School of Medicine, but the
committee will meet with school administration later this month
to discuss the issue.
Amy Wheeler from staff concerns said the alternative work arrangements
committee is preparing a presentation for Human Resources, and the
groups mentoring program is gearing up for its initial run
later this semester.
In other business, members discussed forming a team for the American
Cancer Societys Relay for Life event on April 19 at North
Druid Hills High School. A team of 12 to 15 participants would need
to donate $10 and raise $100 each. Interested members should contact

The PCSW holds its meetings on the first Thursday of each month
at 3:30 p.m. in 400 Administration. Its next meeting will be April
4.
