Emory’s First Responder Unit EMS, operating out of the Emory Police Department, recently was recognized by the National Collegiate Emergency Medical Services Foundation with a “Striving for Excellence in Campus EMS” award. The unit is an all-volunteer organization of more than 50 students that serves the University campus and surrounding community, answering more than 500 calls each year. DeKalb County CEO Vernon Jones, pictured with JoAn Chace, was on hand March 18 at the Miller-Ward Alumni House to receive the Woolford B. Baker Green Space Award from Friends of Emory Forest. Named for a former Emory biology professor, the award is given annually to an individual who has made extraordinary contributions to the establishment of preservation of green space in the community.
