Ceremonies highlight special day on campus: Another year, another sea of mortar boards on the Quad as Emory held its 157th Commencement exercises on May 13. Three thousand, three hundred twenty-three graduates earned 3,349 degrees, from an 18-year-old bachelor’s recipient to a 60-year-old master’s in divinity student. Playwright Alfred Uhry delivered the main Commencement address, and two U.S. Army veterans received a standing ovation for the uncommon valor they demonstrated 34 years ago in a small village in Southeast Asia.
